This page explains what we collect when you use thesupplychainguys.com, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Who we are
The Supply Chain Guys is a small collective of supply chain practitioners writing at thesupplychainguys.com. For anything on this page, email us at [email protected].
What we collect and why
| What | When | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your email address | You sign up for the DIFOT template or our emails | To send what you asked for, then occasional practitioner notes | MailerLite (our email provider) |
| Usage data (pages viewed, rough location, device, referrer) | You visit the site | To see which articles are useful and how people find us | Google Analytics |
| Your name, email and comment | You leave a comment | To show your comment and catch spam | WordPress, on our host |
| Anything you write to us | You email us | To reply | Our email forwarding (Cloudflare) and inbox (Google) |
| IP address and request details | Any visit | Security, blocking abuse, keeping the site up | Cloudflare and our web host |
We do not sell your data, rent our list, or share it with anyone beyond the services named above, which process it on our behalf.
Email signups
Signups use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away. If you want your address deleted entirely rather than just unsubscribed, email us and we will remove it.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell repeat visits from new ones. Cloudflare may set a cookie that helps it separate people from bots. If you leave a comment, WordPress can remember your name and email in a cookie so you don’t have to retype them. You can block or clear cookies in your browser and the site will still work.
Links to other sites
We link to sources and, in some articles, to courses or books. Some of those may be affiliate links, which we disclose where they appear. Once you click through, the other site’s own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep it
Email addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics, after which Google deletes it. Comments stay up unless you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will deal with it within 30 days. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If what we collect changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
